Halston's first collection designed at Bergdorf Goodman coincided with the famed Truman Capote Black and White Ball at The Plaza Hotel. Halston was asked to design many masks including the most visible one for the guest of honor Katherine Graham. The simple silk velvet mink trimmed gown and bunny mask were commissioned by actress Candice Bergen to wear to the ball. Kaye Graham continued to seek wardrobe advice from Halston during her career as CEO of the Washington Post.
